Privacy Policy: DSB Blending Calculator and 2-for-1 Voucher
Last updated: 10 October 2026
1. Who we are
This policy explains how the following companies process your personal information when you use the blending calculator at https://dsb-blend.pages.dev and claim a voucher. They do so together as joint responsible parties under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA):
- Durbanville Wine Safari (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2024/280613/07), operating from Protea Hotel Durbanville, 99 Jip De Jager Drive, Durbanville ("DWS"); and
- Doorstep Wines And Events (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2025/351713/07), operating from Protea Hotel Durbanville, 99 Jip De Jager Drive, Durbanville, which runs the Doorstep Blending Experience (DSB) and the Doorstep Wine Tasting Experience (DST).
"We" and "us" means both companies. You can contact either of us using the details in section 10, and we will deal with your request together.
2. What we collect
- your email address;
- whether you ticked the marketing box (yes or no);
- the date and time you submitted the form;
- the source of your sign-up, for example the DSB event, venue or QR code you scanned;
- your voucher code and whether you have used it; and
- basic technical data that our website host processes automatically, such as your IP address and browser type (we use it briefly to prevent abuse of the form and don't store it with your voucher).
You give us your email address voluntarily. If you don't give it to us, we can't send you a voucher. The marketing box is optional.
3. Why we use it and our legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis under POPIA |
|---|---|
| To send you the voucher you asked for, check it and honour it when you book | Taking steps at your request to give you the voucher (s11(1)(b)) |
| To prevent fraud and enforce the one-voucher-per-email-address-per-event rule | Our legitimate interests (s11(1)(f)) |
| To send you news, specials and event invites from DWS and Doorstep Wines And Events | Your consent, only if you ticked the marketing box (s11(1)(a) and s69) |
| To keep records required by law and to deal with complaints or legal claims | Legal obligation and legitimate interests (s11(1)(c) and (f)) |
We will not send you marketing emails unless you have ticked the box. Every marketing email will identify who sent it and include an unsubscribe link. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Who we share it with
We share your information only with service providers ("operators") who process it for us under written agreements that require them to keep it confidential and secure. These are:
- our email service provider, Google (Gmail), which sends your voucher email;
- our website host, Cloudflare (dsb-blend.pages.dev);
- our booking platform, Activitar, when you book your tour; and
- Google (Google Sheets and Apps Script), where your voucher record is stored.
We may also disclose information if the law requires us to.
5. Information sent outside South Africa
Some of our service providers, Google and Cloudflare, store or process data on servers outside South Africa, for example in the USA and the EU. We only use providers that are bound by data-protection laws or binding agreements that give protection substantially similar to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
6. How long we keep it
We keep voucher claim records (email, code, event, opt-in choice and timestamps) until 12 months after the voucher expires or is redeemed, then delete them. If you opted in to marketing, we keep your email until you unsubscribe, plus 12 months. After that we keep only your email on a do-not-contact list, so we never email you again.
- We may keep information for longer if the law requires us to or if it is needed for a legal claim.
7. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access limited to authorised people, strong passwords and two-factor authentication on our accounts. If we believe that your information has been accessed by an unauthorised person, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask whether we hold your information and request a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or delete your information;
- object to our processing of your information on reasonable grounds;
- withdraw your marketing consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing email or by emailing info@durbanvillewinesafari.com. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect your voucher; and
- complain to the Information Regulator (see section 9).
We will respond within a reasonable time and won't charge you for simple requests. For formal access requests, see our PAIA manual at https://dsb-blend.pages.dev/paia/dws.
9. Complaints to the Information Regulator
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator:
- website: https://inforegulator.org.za;
- complaints portal: https://eservices.inforegulator.org.za;
- email: enquiries@inforegulator.org.za; and
